Social Responsibility

Asterisk is a Nepal based handicraft company. In order to support the Nepali handicraft industry and give employment opportunities to the deprived community members, particularly women and ethnic groups. Asterisk was founded in 2010 as a family-run handicraft company. This was done with the goal of empowering these individuals on the social and economic fronts and providing them with benefits like health care and education for their children. Our training programs, which equip them with the necessary skills for their jobs inside the organisation, help them lead normal lives.

1. Occupational Health and Safety Trainings

We also conduct Occupational Health and safety training as per requirement.

2. Menstrual Hygiene Management

Menstrual hygiene management training in the collaboration with Connection Nepal. Asterisk also conducted Menstrual hygiene management training to all the female staffs in collaboration with connection Nepal.

3. Mindfulness Training

As we all know that mental health is more necessary than physical health, Asterisk provides Anapana Meditation practice as Mindfulness training to the workers. We celebrated women’s day with Mindfulness training.

4. Household Waste Management

With the motive to reduce the production of waste, we give priority to the household waste management.

5. Financial Literacy

Asterisk provides financial awareness to the workers, the Branch manager of Nic Asia bank shared about the Banking insurance and claim process to the workers who have accounts on the Nic Asia Bank. Also Asterisk provided the Initial Public Offering filling Training with the help of Sampanna Capital and Advisory Nepal.

Asterisk has encouraged the staff for monthly saving programs to their staff in women’s cooperatives and also use financial instruments as per their requirements.

6. Health Camp and Checkup

Asterisk has a biannual health checkup program in the office as well as, we distribute free emergency medicine to our staff and families. The health check of gynae and general medicine is focused by the doctors.

7. COVID Support

The second wave of COVID made problems all over Nepal and on April 26, 2021 the Government of Nepal announced a second wave of lock down of Kathmandu and other major places of Nepal as a public health measure to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The second wave of lock down restrictions is still going on till date and the people of Nepal are afraid of the third wave.

Asterisk International Services was prompted to address the situation created by covid and distributed mask, Sanitizer, oximeter to all the employees and their family and other people like health workers, Police, social workers and frontlines.

8. Free Lunch

At Asterisk lunch is free for most of the staff and workers who work here.

9. Annual Picnic

We go for a picnic every year.

10. Alms Giving Practice to Earn Merit

Asterisk organises an Alms giving program to the Buddhist Monks to share the earning and cultivate the habits of giving from our workers. Also, the monks inspire us by giving motivation for ethical conduct and responsible business with the right livelihood. This will serve as a basic principle of anti corruption.

11. Women Day Celebration

Asterisk celebrates women's day every year, and we support gender equality, reproductive rights, and speak out against violence and abuse against women.

12. Festival Celebration

Asterisk International services takes special care of our employees. Time and again, we celebrate different national and international festivals in our office. These festivals help to refresh our staff and re-energize them. Every year we celebrate Women’s festival ( Teej Celebrations), Annual Picnic , Annual day celebration.

Loans taken from Asterisk are interest free to all the employees. They only need to pay the amount they have taken.
